Nosak Group Discusses Investment Opportunities With Kogi State Government

The management of Nosak Group with the executive of Nigeria Cassava Growers Association (NCGA) paid a courtesy visit to Kogi State Economic Management Team to express interest in investing in cassava plantation and its value chain. The visit was centred on land acquisition and access to other infrastructures in the state.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Thomas Oloriegbe, Group Managing Director of Nosak Group said the Group is establishing a 150,000 litres per day cassava to ethanol refinery which would require about 400,000 tonnes of cassava per annum cultivated on a 20,000 hectare of farmland. “The refinery requires about 1,200 tonnes of cassava per day for processing. This is huge and it is the reason one of our subsidiaries; Premier Plantations Limited is partnering with the Nigeria Cassava Growers Association for an off-taker agreement with the farmers to supply feedstock to the plant”. He explained.

Welcoming the team from Nosak Group and the NCGA, the Chairman, Kogi State Economic Management Team, Mr. Yakubu Okala expressed delight in the mission of the Group. “This is in line with the industrialization vision of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State who has set aside 500,000 hectares of land for the purpose of growing cassava”. He stated further that the initiative will boost economic activities, generate employment, alleviate poverty, and enhance food security in the state.

On security and access to infrastructure, the Chairman assured the team that the Governor has put in place a formidable security network and is improving on infrastructural development to attract more investors into the state.

In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. David Apeh said, “The investment plan will change the economic status of the state through gainful employment and farmers will be adequately empowered. From this, we are sure that millionaires will emerge from cassava farmers in the state”.

The Nosak Group team and members of the NCGA proceeded on a tour to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Williams Ayeni, the Olujumu of Ijumu, and the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, the Obaro of Kabba both in Kogi State.
